Position Purpose
The IT Support Specialist is responsible for providing technical support and customer service to all Vivent Health employees. The IT Support Specialist will work closely with staff throughout the state in order to maintain and improve the use of technology. In the absence of the Help Desk Manager, the Help Desk Specialist will report to the VP of IT and be the point person for urgent requests and communication.

Essential Functions

  • Provide technical support in the areas of computer hardware and software, printers, copiers, fax machines, telephone systems, cell phones and pagers.
  • Process help requests to provide technical problem identification and resolution or escalate the problem to the next level of support as appropriate. Document the requests, activity, and solutions in the help desk software.
  • Perform hardware/software installation, configuration, maintenance, and repair on workstations and laptops.
  • Provide assistance in one or all areas of application programming that includes testing, design, and analysis.
  • Research, develop, and implement API’s or other programs to increase automation.
  • Provide training for users in group or in one-on-one sessions for software applications and hardware use.
  • Work closely with the Help Desk Manager to develop technology resources for users.
  • Manage user accounts using Microsoft Active Directory and other administration tools.
  • Coordinate repair services and communicate to staff with necessary updates.
  • Maintain a level of proficiency necessary for competence in the position and attend education and training sessions as approved.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or as necessity dictates.

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience doing application support/development for a medium to large organization

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated competence in functional or technical components of the assigned applications using .NET, C#, Responsive Design, JavaScript, etc
  • Ability to be self-directed, work without supervision in the office or remotely
