Position Purpose

The registered dental hygienist is a licensed, professional, oral health educator and clinician who, as a co-therapist with the dentist uses preventive, educational and therapeutic methods for the control of oral disease to aid individuals and groups in attaining and maintaining optimum oral health.

Scope of Responsibilities

The unique, nationally recognized Vivent Health HIV Medical Home model of care assures that everyone with HIV has access to medical, dental, mental health and social services and provides the best opportunity for patients to achieve high quality health outcomes. Vivent Health also provides aggressive HIV prevention services to gay men, injection drug users and others at the highest risk for HIV infection. 

Vivent Health currently operates in multiple states nationwide. It embraces a Market Culture to increase access to care, enhance quality outcomes and achieve and surpass financial performance expectations and has an aggressive plan to expand into additional states.

Essential Functions

  • Provide preventive instruction to dental patients.
  • Provide dental prophylaxis (cleanings) to dental patients.
  • Establish recall frequency and oversee patient recall adherence/appointing.
  • Document initial periodontal conditions in patient chart and monitor conditions as appropriate at recall appointments.
  • Report suspected pathologies to supervising dentist.
  • Complete prior authorizations relating to periodontal services.
  • Manage/order supplies related to periodontal services.
  • Compile data required for reports as assigned by supervising dentist.
  • Attend periodic continuing education seminars of periodontal and dental topics.
  • Successful completion and maintaining continuous certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) training for health care providers recognized by the American Heart Association, the American Safety and Health Institute, or the American Red Cross.
  • Comply with Vivent Health’s Health Care Corporate Compliance Standards of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties delegated by the supervising dentist.

Required Qualifications

  • Current Registered Dental Hygienist License (R.D.H.) in State of Colorado
  • Certified in Administration of Local Anesthetic
  • Current CPR certification
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to the HIV/AIDS patient population, and /or eagerness to learn about this community.
  • Ability to work with a diverse patient population
  • Adheres to all agency policies including, but not limited to, Employee Handbook, Confidentiality, Healthcare Corporate Compliance Plan, Standards of Conduct, and other policies.
  • An Influenza vaccine is required of all new employees at the time of employment, and is required thereafter on an annual basis.
  • A tuberculin/TB skin test is required of all new employees at the time of employment, and may be required thereafter on an annual basis, depending on position.

Salary Range

  • $75,000 - $80,000 annually
