Position Purpose

Under the leadership of the Vice President of Cultural and Organizational Development, the Learning and Development Trainer will support the delivery of quality face-to-face and e-learning instruction, provide engaging learning interactions and assess learning outcomes. The learning and development trainer role is 50% facilitation and 50% instructional design and development.

Scope of Responsibilities

Vivent Health is one of the nation’s largest providers of HIV prevention, care and treatment services with a budget approaching $150 million and employing over 450 professionals.

The unique, nationally recognized Vivent Health HIV Medical home model of care assures that everyone with HIV has access to medical, dental, mental health and social services and provides the best opportunity for patients to achieve high quality health outcomes. Vivent Health also provides aggressive HIV prevention services to gay men, injection drug users and others at the highest risk for HIV infection.

Essential Functions

  1. Design, develop and deliver blended learning solutions based on business needs.
  2. Experience designing and delivering learning solutions around leadership and management skills.
  3. Self-starter who is well organized and can lead instructional design projects from start to finish.
  4. Facilitate in-person, virtually and with a co-facilitator.
  5. Team player who effectively collaborates with subject matter experts, vendors, leadership and colleagues to develop and deliver learning solutions.
  6. Follow standard methodologies in the areas of instructional design and adult learning.
  7. Take an enthusiastic approach to sharing and implementing innovative ideas in the field of learning and development curriculum and educational technologies.
  8. Communicate effectively with leadership and subject matter experts to conduct needs analysis and consult on learning and development standard methodologies.
  9. Comply with all Vivent Health policies and procedures including, but not limited to, the Employee Handbook, Vivent Health Corporate Compliance plan, Standards of Conduct, and confidentiality.

Required Experience 

  • BA/BS degree in Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, Training and Development, Adult Education or related degree or comparable experience.
  • 5+ yrs. of professional experience in instructional design and facilitation.
  • Experience facilitating for large or small groups and for individual contributors, managers and executives.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully design, develop and deliver learning solutions utilizing skills in instructional design, facilitation and learning technologies.
  • Experience with creating and facilitating experiential learning activities.
  • Lead learning and development projects from start to finish.
  • Advanced proficiency using Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word), Learning Management Systems, as well as understanding of eLearning course author tools and graphics technologies.
  • Working knowledge of employee motivation, team development, and learning styles.
  • Must exhibit the following leadership competencies: Learning Agility, Empowering Others, Accountability, Culturally Adaptable, Change Management, and Strategic Focus
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to the HIV/AIDS patient population, and/or an eagerness to learn about this community.
  • An Influenza vaccine is required of all new employees at the time of employment, and is required thereafter on an annual basis.
  • A tuberculin/TB skin test is required of all new employees at the time of employment, and may be required thereafter on an annual basis, depending on position.

Additional Preferred Experience 

  • Graduate degree in Education, Organizational Development, or Organizational Behavior, with related technology experiences in Instructional Design Technology.
  • Experience with onboarding/orientation, performance management and coaching.
  • Experience with measurement and evaluations to obtain ROL (return on learning).
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies as related to instruction and experience with instructional design theory and technology as well as web technologies, multimedia applications, social media, and synchronous and asynchronous learning systems
  • Expertise in learning management systems, web authoring, or similar tools with the ability to create online educational resources.
  • Awareness of usability and accessibility considerations in instructional design.
