Position Purpose

The Condom Distribution Specialist delivers Condoms to the community through our Condom distribution network (CDN). This individual serves as a dedicated CDN staff that assists with the distribution of condoms to our community partners and through the online CDN store. The Condom Distribution specialist conducts outreach, education for the CDN program, and marketing to highrisk men who have sex with men, People living with HIV, and communities with high rates of HIV and STI prevalence. The Condom Distribution Specialist follows programmatic guidelines approved by the Texas Department of State Health Services. Supervision is received from the SAMHSA Coordinator, and Director of Health Promotions.

Scope of Responsibilities

Vivent Health is one of the nation’s largest providers of HIV prevention, care and treatment services with a budget approaching $130 million and employing over 400 professionals.

The unique, nationally recognized Vivent Health HIV Medical Home model of care assures that everyone with HIV has access to medical, dental, mental health and social services and provides the best opportunity for patients to achieve high quality health outcomes. Vivent Health also provides aggressive HIV prevention services to gay men, injection drug users and others at the highest risk for HIV infection. 

Vivent Health currently operates in multiple states nationwide. It embraces a Market Culture to increase access to care, enhance quality outcomes and achieve and surpass financial performance expectations and has an aggressive plan to expand into additional states.

Position Responsibilities  

  • Accurately utilize the appropriate database in accordance with programmatic and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Create Condom packets to support the community, other health promotion programs, and agency needs.
  • Help design condom packet inserts that are reflective of the community in both English and Spanish.
  • Work with our Development department to keep the CDN store website updated and relevant.
  • Deliver condoms to our community Condoms distribution sites as needed.
  • Maintain and update the CDN store survey and report data to SAMHSA Coordinator and Director of Health Promotion on a monthly bases.
  • Prepare, built and mail out all condom orders received from our CDN store on a weekly bases that include programmatic education materials and other outreach marketing supplies.
  • Work with the Volunteer Manager to coordinate CDN volunteers to meet the community CDN packets needs.
  • Work with Health Promotion Programs assistant to order CDN supplies as needed.
  • Keep a full inventory of all Condoms that have been purchased and distributed
  • Collaborate with community organizations, Prevention staff, and volunteers to facilitate effective HIV prevention outreach activities and referrals to HIV programming and other social services.
  • Maintain appropriate and timely communication with SAMHSA Coordinator, clients, service providers, and community collaborators.
  • Maintain appropriate and timely documentation of all prevention services delivered.
  • Maintain strict client confidentiality standards per state and federal regulations.
  • Adhere to data entry policies and ensure accurate data and documentation of all activities and prevention services delivered.
  • Assist in promoting available prevention programs targeting behaviorally defined high-risk populations, including recruitment, delivery, and documentation via designated reporting tools.
  • Refer clients to appropriate local community resources when conducting outreach and/or delivering prevention services.
  • Provide programmatic and quality assurance support for the CDN program, including assisting with program, recruitment, scheduling, and promotion and documenting activities,
  • Assist in identifying, developing, and establishing community distribution sites to increase service delivery to behaviorally defined target populations of men who have sex with men and high-risk individuals and areas.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of innovative campaigns to reach individuals from disenfranchised populations.
  • Assist the Director of Health Promotion and the SAMSHA Coordinator with departmental activities, including generating monthly and quarterly reports and maintaining internal supplies.
  • Participate regularly in Vivent Health, Health promotion meetings.
  • Participate in Vivent Health's AIDS Walk on an annual basis.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in public health preferred.
  • Experience in providing outreach to communities of color preferred
  • 1 year of customer service experience is required.
  • Training in harm reduction principles and motivational interviewing preferred
  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to the above requirements
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to the HIV/AIDS patient population, and/or an eagerness to learn about this community.
  • Ability to work with a diverse patient population.
  • An Influenza vaccine is required of all new employees at the time of employment, and is required thereafter on an annual basis.
  • A tuberculin/TB skin test is required of all new employees at the time of employment, and may be required thereafter on an annual basis, depending on position.
