Position Purpose

T
he  Manager of Pharmacy Academics  will work closely with pharmacy leadership to expand and integrate our pharmacy residents and students into our collaborative care model while also serving as a medical home pharmacist both locally and remotely.  As Vivent Health expands its national footprint this role will lead our integration with various pharmacy schools across the country.  The Manager of Pharmacy Academics will also act as Vivent Health’s Residency Program Director and will be a key conduit between medical groups and our outpatient pharmacy teams to integrate and maximize collaboration of care with all Vivent Health’s medical home patients.

Scope of Responsibilities

Vivent Health is one of the nation’s largest providers of HIV prevention, care and treatment services with a budget approaching $130 million and employing over 400 professionals.

The unique, nationally recognized Vivent Health HIV Medical Home model of care assures that everyone with HIV has access to medical, dental, mental health and social services and provides the best opportunity for patients to achieve high quality health outcomes. Vivent Health also provides aggressive HIV prevention services to gay men, injection drug users and others at the highest risk for HIV infection. 

Vivent Health currently operates in multiple states nationwide. It embraces a Market Culture to increase access to care, enhance quality outcomes and achieve and surpass financial performance expectations and has an aggressive plan to expand into additional states.

Essential Functions 

  • Provide superior customer service to patients, providers, colleagues and referral sources.
  •  Collaborate with the Vivent Health Medical Center, primarily physiciansnurse practitioners, social services, and any other Vivent Health programs to optimize health outcomes for medical clinic patients.
  •  Promote the pharmacy’s clinical services to medical clinics and act as a collaborator for excellence in HIV care. Collaborate with pharmacy schools to build strong long-term relationships and consistent student placement.
  •  Adhere to all applicable state and federal pharmacy guidelines as it pertains to pharmacy practices
  •  Certify as HIV specialty pharmacist through the American Academy of HIV Medicine within three years of employment
  •  Work with colleague pharmacists to assure maximal financial success of the pharmacy within its vision
  • Oversee relationships with all pharmacy schools in the areas of residencies, IPPE’sAPPE’s, shadowing, and teaching.
  •  Coordinate schedules for all rotation-based student activities
  •  Develop and maintain system of guideline updates for clinical pharmacists practicing ambulatory care
  •  Assist clinical pharmacists acting as adjunct faculty with school of pharmacy partners
  •  Initiate PGY-1 and/or PGY-2 residency programs in locations as designated by leadership.
  •  Coordinate and oversee pharmacy residency and student preceptors 
  •  Serve as a source of pharmacy support for clinic medical staff and case-management
  •  Provide knowledge and assistance in managing the medication outcomes of Vivent Health’s managed patients to at or above national standards
  •  Assist in coordinating the development of in-clinic pharmacy services at all sites, including maximizing technology driven solutions.
  •  Willingness to obtain professional licensing in other states as needed.
  •  Staff in clinics & outpatient pharmacy 
  •  All other duties as assigned by the supervising Director

Required Qualifications

  • PGY-2 Residency
  • Board Certified
  • 5 years clinical experience (in lieu of PGY-2 Residency)


Preferred Qualifications

  • Residency Mentorship
  • Infectious Disease Expertise
  • AAHIVP
  • Experience with EPIC
  • Experience with Willow
  • Knowledge of health and social service needs for persons with HIV/AID
