Position Purpose

The Nurse Supervisor is a leader in the Vivent Health Medical Center providing direct nursing care, supervision, guidance and professional development to the nursing staff. The Nurse Supervisor, along with the Medical Director of Healthcare Services and in collaboration with the Vice President of Medical Affairs and Vice President of Operations will lead the effort to provide high quality, patient-centered nursing care for our patients.  The Nurse Supervisor, in collaboration with other medical clinic staff, develops and maintains standards of care, protocols, policies and procedures and manages day-to-day operations of the clinic, including phlebotomy, medical assistants and temporary staff.

The Nurse Supervisor has the responsibility to ensure the delivery of the highest quality nursing care to clinic patients.  The Nurse Supervisor supervises and evaluates the medical assistants, phlebotomy staff and the nursing staff to ensure the standardization of quality nursing practices across all Medical Center sites; assures an efficient schedule and smooth clinic flow, participates in providing sound financial management of the Medical Center including revenue generation; and helps develop quality patient education through collaboration with other professional staff and community resources.

**This is a Full-Time Monday-Friday position with no nights, weekends, on-call or holiday hours.**

Scope of Responsibilities

The unique, nationally recognized Vivent Health HIV Medical home model of care assures that everyone with HIV has access to medical, dental, mental health and social services and provides the best opportunity for patients to achieve high quality health outcomes. Vivent Health also provides aggressive HIV prevention services to gay men, injection drug users and others at the highest risk for HIV infection.

Vivent Health currently operates in multiple states nationwide. It embraces a Market Culture to increase access to care, enhance quality outcomes, achieve and surpass financial performance expectations and has an aggressive plan to expand into additional states. 

Essential Functions

  • Ensure that the highest quality nursing services are provided to Vivent Health medical patients through direct patient care, patient education and specialty care referral services.
  • Directly supervise all clinic nurses, medical assistants, phlebotomy staff and other designated staff. Assure nursing staff is available when needed by coordinating schedules and assignments. Schedule temporary staff when needed, monitor nursing productivity and implements strategies to improve efficiency and quality. Maintain a quality stable nursing staff and ensure that the staff receives sufficient professional and in-service education, training and development to meet their needs for growth and development as well as to maintain current certification/licensure.
  • Develop and maintain the nursing and medical assistant schedule to ensure adequate coverage and workflow.
  • Coordinate the activities of the nursing staff and medical assistants, assigning and delegating duties, and ensures that staff is performing duties in a professional manner meeting patient, provider and staff needs.
  • Provide nursing services in collaboration with Vivent Health physicians, nurse practitioners and other nursing staff including integrated care delivery through effective teamwork with other health and social services.
  • Lead staff collaboration and program development to ensure medical clinic quality assurance activities.
  • In collaboration with the Medical Director and Vice President of Medical Affairs, develop care protocols and nursing service standards and objectives. Maintain standards of nursing practice including HIV best practice standards of care, nursing policy and procedure manuals, written job descriptions for the medical assistant and nursing personnel and coordination of nursing services.
  • Assist in preparing necessary reports for public and private funding sources. 
  • Contribute to the financial management of the Medical Center by optimizing the efficiency of the clinic schedule and nursing staffing plan and maximizing the generation of revenue through Medical Center operations.
  • Develop and participate in special projects to help identify needed clinic improvements and develop processes to implement changes.
  • Comply with, support and enforce Vivent Health policies involving all safety and infection control procedures, universal precautions and sanitation procedures. Reviews infection control reports, medication incident reports and patient incident reports for corrective action. Responsible for OSHA medical clinic compliance.
  • Perform any and all other duties assigned by the Medical Director, Vice President of Medical Affairs, and Vice President of Operations.
  • As an employee in the Medical clinic, the Nurse Supervisor serves as one member of team offering services statewide and he/she may need to provide services (e.g. in another clinic location, at a satellite site) or participate in clinic functions on an interim or periodic basis (e.g. covering vacant positions, attending staff and/or clinical supervision meetings, participating in trainings) extending beyond his/her primary location of hire.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's of Science in Nursing
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in the state of Colorado. 
  • Thorough knowledge of Nursing Practice Standards
  • Three (3) years or greater experience in a primary care HIV/AIDS clinic
  • Knowledge of medical clinic routine
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to HIV/AIDS patients
  • Able to work with diverse populations


Preferred Qualifications

=

  • Master's Degree in Nursing, preferred
  • AIDS Certified Registered Nurse Certification (ACRN) preferred
  • Certified for CPR-BLS, preferred
  • Prior Supervisory/Clinic Management experience
  • Bilingual English-Spanish speaker, strongly preferred
